Is Cliver Palmer’s United Australia Party in trouble?

Article image for Is Cliver Palmer’s United Australia Party in trouble?

The Australian Electoral Commission has issued a Notice of Intention to Deregister Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party, citing too few members to continue.

They cite section 137(1)(b) of the Commonwealth Electoral act which states that a political party may be deregistered if “a political party so registered, not being a Parliamentary party, has ceased to have at least 500 members.”

More to come.
