50% of WA drivers look to buy an electric or hybrid as their next car
The RAC has revealed that WA’s demand for electric vehicles is growing.
A RAC spokesperson told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast has shown that more Western Australians consider an EV or hybrid as their next purchase over a petrol or diesel car.
Electric vehicles continue to grow in popularity, with a new survey revealing half of surveyed West Australians would consider an electric or hybrid as their next car and 36 percent would still prefer petrol or diesel.
Will Golsby, RAC General Manager External Relations, said that the cost now outweighs the range between charges as the most common concern about electric vehicles.
“We see a bright future for electric vehicles in our state. The most recent (poll) was half of those that responded said that they’d look at electric or a hybrid vehicle as their next car,” he said.
“The government has levers around cheaper parking. Looking at registration fees there’s lots of things governments can do incentives rebates to assist with the take up of electric vehicles and ultimately from our perspective cleaner and healthier air.”
