On October 16, 1959 Channel 7 Perth switched on their lights and cameras and there’s been a lot of action since then.

Iconic newsreaders Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr have been gracing Perth screens for a combined 75 years and joined Steve and Baz in the 6PR studio to talk about the first days of TV in Perth.

“There were a lot of local shows and a lot of slapstick stuff early,” Ardon reminisced.
“However, these days TV is instant, you can go anywhere in the world.”

“It took a long time for us to move into colour and we’ve gone from film, to video tape, to digital. The number of people who work in it has really shrunk too,” Carr told Steve and Baz.
