The WA government has admitted it played a role in destroying the ancient ‘Bob Brown’ peppermint tree in the Ferguson Valley, believed to be about 800 years old.

Environmentalist Bob Brown and tourism operator Peter Murphy spoke to 6PR Mornings host Gary Adshead on the loss of the beloved tree.

“Why on earth they wanted to trim a natural tree when they could have put a fence around it to keep visitors at bay is beyond me,” Brown said.
