Mark McGowan’s comments describing social housing developments as “ghettos” have been met with surprise from welfare organisations.

Anglicare CEO Mark Glasson told Millsy and Mick he was “disappointed” that the Premier would make such generalisations about lower socioeconomic areas.

“If you think about the people that were living there, they were working hard and just trying to get by; characterising them as drug dealers and criminals is not helping anyone,” Mr Glasson said.

“Everyone knows we have a housing problem, and it doesn’t help when you slam hard-working people like that.”
