Adam Simpson sets the record straight on reports he needs a break
West Coast coach Adam Simpson has staunchly denied reports the club has asked him to take extended leave at the end of the AFL season.
Reports circulated on Wednesday night Simpson had been asked to take a 3-month holiday in order to refresh after a taxing campaign.
Simpson told Wide World of Sports’ Adam Papalia the reports are false and although he is planning some time off with his family, he hasn’t been asked to take extended leave.
“I’ve got some PD (personal development) I’d like to do at the end of the year, maybe go to the States, maybe take the kids for a week or two… I think Chinese whispers got to the point where it’s 3 months” Simpson said.
“I get a lot of text messages, and I get a few apologies here and there as well that things have been taken out of context… I’m the coach until I’m not the coach”
