The first promotional advertisement for Warnie, the Channel 9 miniseries which will portray Shane Warne’s life and career, aired during the first game of the State of Origin last night.

Opinions were mixed, with some arguing the rendition of the great leg spinner’s life would be upsetting.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast the series was always primed to cause some controversy.

“It’s always difficult when you are doing a miniseries about an iconic person because they’re etched into your brain,” Mr Ford said.
