Richard Goyder is one of this state’s biggest business names and is this week’s Backstories guest on Afternoons with Julie-anne Sprague.

He’s the former boss of Wesfarmers, which owns Bunnings and Kmart and is currently chairman of the AFL, Qantas and Woodside.

Mr Goyder talks about how he never wanted to be a farmer, but then bought a farm, and looks back on things he might have done differently at Qantas during the pandemic.

He’s also shared some incredible highlights from his career, including the time he met President Obama.

“It was for me, a boy from Tambellup…a bit of a surreal moment.”

Press PLAY to hear how one of Australia’s most powerful businessmen got to where he is today.
