A police officer is in a critical condition after has been allegedly run over during an attempted arrest in Ascot early this morning.

Nine News reporter Anne Barclay told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast the officers were attempting to arrest a group of individuals in an allegedly stolen car.

“Officers were trying to detain the people inside and the car actually sped off,” Ms Barclay said.

The officer was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, according to reports.
