A disability is advocate has argued a man who died outside Perth Train Station on Friday night was a victim of tragic circumstances.

People With Disability Australia Vice President Samantha Connor told Gary Adshead on 6PR Breakfast the victim had Sotos syndrome, and had been rejected for an independent living allowance which forced him to travel via public transport for work.

“He apparently had an altercation, was handcuffed, experienced a medical episode and died,” Ms Connor said.

“We’re hoping to get answers… as to why a family is going to be burying a young person who should be alive right now.”

A statement from the Public Transport Authority read they are cooperating with police in the matter.

“They have seen the CCTV, which they reviewed in detail on Friday night,” the statement read.

“We will not comment further as the matter will be the subject of a Coronial investigation.”
