‘They were warned’: picking up the pieces of the Titan tragedy

Article image for ‘They were warned’: picking up the pieces of the Titan tragedy

After remains of the Titan submersible were found scattered around the wreck of the Titanic, the world at large is now left with questions over how a tragedy like this could have happened.

Rather than discovering a submersible with a low level or no oxygen, the destruction of the craft was reportedly caused by a “catastrophic implosion”, though investigations are forthcoming.

Ex-submariner and former Senator Rex Patrick told Karl and Gena onĀ 6PR Breakfast the families of the deceased can at least take some solace in knowing they didn’t suffer.

“The news today is a good outcome insofar that the alternate might have been the gentlemen sitting on the bottom of the sea floor in very cold conditions without power, rising Co2 and a lack of oxygen; that would have just been a hard way to go,” Mr Patrick said.
