The Australian Institute of Health and Wellness has revealed statistics showing that, while life expectancy continues to rise, it’s not as rapid as it could potentially be.

Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Economics Co-Director Andrew Wilson told Julie-anne Sprague the 20th century saw massive leaps in life expectancy which cannot be exactly replicated now so much change has occurred.

“The things we’re trying to deal with, things like cancer, are much harder to deal with,” Professor Wilson said.

“The sad thing about men is that we still; neglect our diet and our mental health, and we’re seeing the consequences of that.”
