Rental crisis forces pregnant mother onto the street
For eight months, young mother Cassandra has been living out of the back of her SUV because she cannot keep up with ramping rental costs.
With the end of her lease coming up, the owners of her rental raised the rent multiple times until she was forced onto the street.
Cassandra told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings has now found shelter, but has given a grim warning of how much the housing crunch is affecting average people.
“It was very challenging every day; we had to travel around to shower. It takes a big toll on your body, especially when you’re pregnant,” Cassandra said.
