No answers on why insurance firms are destroying the live music scene
Lauded Northbridge live music venue Badlands is the latest in a line of live entertainment locations to close their doors recently, with the rest scrambling to pay ever-increasing insurance costs.
Now representative organisations like West Australian Music are struggling to find a solution to an issue not just affecting WA, but venues nationwide.

“Venues are being lost in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland as well, and it’s down to the rising premiums on public liability insurance,” WAM Executive Director Livia Carré told Russell Collett on 6PR Afternoons.
“We don’t really know why the insurance premiums have increased tenfold, even when there’s been little or no claims.”
