Power cop historic fine for ignoring Aliir injury
The AFL has dropped the hammer on Port Adelaide, fining them $100,000 for breaching concussion protocols in foregoing a proper head injury assessment of Aliir Aliir following his sickening clash with teammate Lachie Jones.
The fine will be split in half, with $50,000 applied to the club’s soft cap and the balance outside the cap unless a similar breach occurs in this or next year’s season.

Nine News sports reporter Mark Readings told Karl and Gena on 6PR Breakfast the club did admit they’d made a mistake, and are now paying the price.
“It’s down to their due diligence not being up to scratch,” Mr Readings said.
