Crowded House’s backout leaves lucrative Grand Final gap
Crowded House’s decision to back out of the Grand Final pregame show has renewed the discussion around which musical act best fits the lauded slot.
The Australian-by-way-of-New Zealand band were tentatively locked in for the Final but pulled out last week, leaving the AFL only around two months to find a replacement.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Karl and Mick onĀ 6PR Breakfast the decision was “pretty amateurish” on behalf of the band, unless there’s a strong reason.
“It’d be very odd to think they just couldn’t be stuffed doing it,” Mr Ford said.
