The rental crisis has become somewhat of a political football between the state and federal governments, with neither able to agree on a holistic solution to ongoing property shortages.

6PR national political editor Michael Pachi told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is suggesting the state need to overhaul planning laws.

And he believes that if that happens about one million new homes could be built around the country and as a result, that might ease some of the supply shortages that we hear about,” Mr Pachi said.
