The Matildas play in the biggest match in Australian football history tonight when they take on England for a place in the World Cup final –  Shona proudly wears the mantle of an ‘original Matilda” – as a player in the inaugural Australian National Women’s Soccer team.

Leader, coach and original Matildas player Dr Shona Bass spoke with Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR’s Afternoons and detailed her experiences as a young Women’s footballer.

“We got the worst ground and we didn’t have changing rooms and most of us were playing against boys,” she said.
