Celebrities, journalists and audiences around the world have shared memories of Michael Parkinson’s illustrious five-decade career following his passing earlier this week.

Veteran Australian broadcaster Mike Carlton shared his immense respect for Parkinson with Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast, noting the Yorkshireman’s involvement in his early career.

“He was a lovely man; he was funny, he was good to be with, he was smart as a whip and what you saw was what you got,” Mr Carlton said.

“He was exactly the same off-air as he was on; he was just a genuinely lovely man.”
