‘It’s 90 per cent mental’: Success and mental toughness with Steve Hooker
Steve Hooker won gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, making him the first Australian male since 1968 to claim the top medal in a track and field event.
Hooker recounted his amazing career on Backstories with Julie-anne Sprague and said the difference between the athletes at their best and worst is what’s happening inside their heads,
“I’ve had results where I’m injured, running slow, you know, the body’s not playing ball, but mentally I’m so on that I end up winning the meet.”
