A local group is campaigning against the redevelopment of Karrakatta cemetery after they’ve allegedly discovered headstones removed.

The community group known as Saving Family Headstones at Karrakatta, allege the cemetery have dug between occupied graves and have built on top of previous graves.

The organisation’s spokesperson Shane Becu spoke to Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings about the redevelopment.

“The problem is families don’t know what’s happening,” Mr Becu said.

“They’ll just turn up one day to find their loved ones are missing.”
