Have you ever wondered how different ‘coloured noises’ affect your brain?

Article image for Have you ever wondered how different ‘coloured noises’ affect your brain?

Brown, white, blue or pink. Different types of ‘coloured noise’ may affect your brain differently depending on their sonic frequency.

More and more people have used different noises to help their brain function, including parents using different coloured noise to help their children fall asleep.

Associate Professor at the University of Queensland’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Wayne Wilson told Michael Thomson on 6PR MorningsĀ different noises do different things to the brain psychologically.

Press PLAY to hear what brown noise sounds like

“We often associate these noises with certain experiences,” Mr Wilson said.

“Hearing the frequency of brown noise or pink noise for example, might remind people of a pleasant holiday, relaxing on the beach.”
