Qantas has lost its High Court appeal and been found to have acted illegally by sacking more than 1,600 workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Federal Court was found to have breached the Fair Work Act by outsourcing ground operations in 2020.

“It was during COVID-19 and Alan Joyce just cut the rug from under these people,” Mr Dawson said.

“We can’t forget he sacked people at their most vulnerable.”
