Despite continuing opposition, the Environmental Protection Agency has approved a controversial rubbish tip expansion.

The approval will allow the pile to grow to up to 13o metres, even though the community deems the existing pile “an eyesore”.

Winery Owner and Ferguson Valley Marketing Association board member Peter Giumelli told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast community members are up in arms over how the expansion would effect Ferguson Valley’s reputation.

“It can already be see right through to the coast and by adding those extra metres, it would just be adding fuel to the fire of resistance by locals,” Mr Giumelli said.
