Pineapple growers are hoping Australians will make the most of a surplus with the return of ‘spooky pines’ this Halloween.

The quirky spin on jack-o’-lanterns sees faces carved into the side of pineapples, lit up by candles placed inside the fruit.

Red Rich Fruits Director Matt Palise told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast it’s a great opportunity to utilize something that would otherwise be chucked in the bin.

“Pineapples are cheap at the moment, so it’s a bit of fun to get everyone involved,” Mr Palise said.
