On World Menopause Day, medical experts and advocates are urging both men and women to become more knowledgeable about the changes the natural life stage brings, especially in the face of discrimination.

According to Menopause Friendly Australia, many women either resign or are forced out of occupations due to misconceptions around menopause.

“It is alarming that many of us don’t actually know the facts and figures about what menopause does,” MFA CEO Grace Molloy told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings.

“It can be quite debilitating for women as well. because we’re also going through a really busy time of life, so we don’t actually know if it’s hormones, or just the usual stressors in our lives.”
