Broome’s apparent spate of violence and crime in Broome, with locals claiming it is now having a definite affect on tourism in the Northwest town.

Many are claiming they are now fighting for “Broome’s soul” in an effort to quell youth-based violence they say is coming from a specific group.

“The sad thing is that 99 per cent of the time, Broome is absolutely the wonderful, safe place people expect,” Broome Mitre 10 owner Mick Chapman told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast.

“There’s just this underlying issue that a lot of youth – specific youth – aren’t being held accountable.”
