Sydney-based government strategic planner and Perth expat Patrick Hay has some strong words to share on Perth’s pathways – particularly those that disappear into nothingness.

Traditionally a common obstacle to pedestrian travel, the multitude of paths to nowhere as well as the lack of shade and roundabouts “where the traffic flows forever” are all drawbacks to Perth’s attraction to outsiders.

Mr Hay told Julie-anne Sprague onĀ 6PR Afternoons he regularly visits Perth with his family, and finds something new which he argues limits the ability to walk anywhere each time he does.

“I’ve just found myself struggling to cross roads to to inadequate crossing setups, and the heat – the lack of shade really exacerbates that,” he said.
