Fears iconic WA tourism town is facing a slow death

The closure of Pemberton’s famed Gloucester Tree to climbing has already had a profound impact on tourism to the Southwest town, spurring residents to plea to government for assistance.

Pemberton Discovery Tours founder told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast it’s disappointing that, without the Gloucester Tree, tourists are largely unaware of the other attractions.

“There’s so much more than climbing the tree, but when you have your most well-known tourism attraction closed, that’s where the effect starts,” Mr Dearle said.
