Dozens of people believed to be from Pakistan have arrived in the small community of Beagle Bay around 100 kilometres north of Broome.

They were discovered by local residents and questioned by police in the town’s general store.

This is the second boat arrival to be publicised since Labor took office in 2022.

6PR / Nine News political reporter Zac De Silva told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live the issue has fast become a political opportunity for the opposition.

“The reaction has been swift from the opposition, it was just an hour or two after this was first reported that Peter Dutton the opposition leader held a snap press conference.”

“He’s claiming that the Government has lost control of Australia’s borders” De Zilva said.
