Perth councillors’s eyes on the sky in business-class spending boost
City of Perth councillors are set to consider a plan to allow elected members business-class flights and extended hotel stays bankrolled by ratepayers.
As WAtoday journalist Jesinta Burton has outlined, city officers are auditing the council’s three-year-old travel and entitlements policy as more public scrutiny is placed on how councilors use ratepayer’s money.
“They have replaced some clauses with others… the Lord Mayor already travels business class to professional and development events, but that’s set to be replaced with a clause stating all councilors are entitled to fly business class,” Ms Burton said.
