Inmates in Bunbury Regional Prison had been making rocking chairs, and some of these are being bought by prison officers, then sold privately.

Corrective Services Commissioner Brad Royce told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that he was uncomfortable by the prison guards privately selling prison-made rocking chairs.

“So this is the issue, about a week and a half ago I became aware some of it [chairs] was being bought, I didn’t understand it, I had a review done, they’ve come to me and I’ve shut it down,” Commissioner Royce said.

“Whilst industry is still going, there’s no sales anymore to the community or prison officers.”
