‘They’re treating us like mugs’: Details revealed in Bankwest Senate inquiry
A Senate inquiry has commenced a week after Bankwest closed all branches across Western Australia.
Chair Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References and Legislation Committees Matt Canavan told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live, “Bankwest have a lot of questions to answer to here to the Western Australian people.”
“It’s very clear today from their evidence, that they’ve given almost zero consideration to the impact of these closures on local communities.”
“I recognise the challenges and economic challenges that banks are facing with the way people are operating, but if it can’t be provided through the way it was in the past we have to have government step in and find a way to deliver it in the future,” Senator Canavan continued.
