Government refusing to back down on ‘appropriate’ Horizontal Falls closure
The state government has defended the decision to phase out boat rides through Horizontal Falls in WA’s north.
Following consultation with stakeholders and traditional owners, a ban on the popular Kimberley tourist experience will take effect by 20-28.
A petition has been launched in parliament, urging the government to reconsider, but Environment Minister Reece Whitby told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the move is the right one.
“I was up in Broome on Friday… everyone was in the room, and the consensus was, this was an appropriate decision,” Mr Whitby said.
