A Port Kennedy business has posted a job advertisement on Facebook offering incredible perks, in an attempt to attract licensed electricians amidst a severe shortage of skilled tradespeople.

SRS Electrical Team Owner Steve Schofield joined Jamie Burnett on Perth Live to discuss the state of the labour industry in Australia.  

“It’s pretty tough, we’ve been looking for two years almost trying to find the right person to suit our business. A lot of competition with up north [to the mines], they seem to finish their apprenticeships or they go off up north and get the big bucks. Which we can’t compete with.”

“It’s not a number [benefit] I guess, we’re smaller so there is a lot more of family feel about it,” Mr Schofield said.
