After a personal tragedy, Gem Midgley reached out to Premier Roger Cook and Transport Minister Rita Saffioti stating new laws should be put in place, enforcing children up to the age of 12 to wear a harness in the car.

Currently, it is only required for those under seven.

Kidsafe WA CEO Scott Phillips told Millsy & Karl on 6PR Breakfast we want kids to be safe and as long as they fit within the current Australian standard seats available, there should be no need for a harness at that age.

“Twelve’s sounding quite high, any parent out there trying to even keep somebody over seven in a child restraint would know the difficulty.” Phillips said.
