Twenty-five years after the infamous Snowtown murders, the town which unfortunately lent its name to the infamous event is looking to escape the stigma.

Much of the town’s celebrity undoubtedly comes from the bank in which many of the crimes occurred, which still stands despite locals’ objections.

“It was an idea floated at the time,” Snowtown Progress Association Chair Derryn Stringer told Millsy and Karl onĀ 6PR Breakfast.

“Unfortunately they didn’t go through with it, and obviously we’re still living with the building there.”
