Hydration ban: School prohibits water bottles in the classroom claims too distracting

Article image for Hydration ban: School prohibits water bottles in the classroom claims too distracting

A school in Victoria is trialing a ban on water bottles in the classroom for years five to nine, claiming a craze around them is stirring disruptions.

Common trending water bottles for this age group include a 1L Frank Green retailing for $59 dollars and a 1.2L Stanley Cup retailing from $70 dollars.

Former Principal and CEO of Real Schools Adam Voigt told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons its reasonable that schools are trying to reduce distractions but water bottles don’t impact the climate and attention as much as this school is claiming.

“It feels like we are really discussing and tackling the big issues in education now… When I first saw the story I thought come on let the kids have a drink, it’s no big deal.”
