Joshua Humphris has been commended for his bravery after he saved kids and the driver of a local school bus trapped in a fast-flowing creek in the Northern Territory.

Mr Humphris received a Commendation for Brave Conduct award and told 6PR Afternoons host Julie-Anne Sprague he was completing the daily school run when he noticed a bus submerged in water and on its side near the road.

“I knew there was a fair chance that I was going to get swept up as well as it (the creek) was 1.2 metres deep and flowing pretty hard,” Mr Humphris said.
