The Charles Hotel could soon be bulldozed to make way for a bustling precinct but one WA musician is calling the move “another kick in the guts to the music industry”.

WA Musician Jamie “Slim Jim” Mercanti told 6PR Mornings host Gary Adshead he understood the property owner’s decision to look at redeveloping the Hotel site in light of the current financial market.

City of Vincent mayor Alison Xamon told Adshead The Charles Hotel was “super rundown” so council had given the property owner the go ahead to turn the site and its surrounds into a precinct which could include a hotel, restaurant and tavern.
