The City of Albany will hold a special electors meeting to discuss growing concerns of the availability of certain sex education books in the towns library. The novels in question include ‘Welcome to Sex’ by Dr Melissa Kang and Yumi Stynes, and ‘Sex: A Book for Teens’ by Nikol Hasler.

Giselle Woodley, sexual education and health researcher, spoke to 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl on the importance of these books.

“Research indicates that young people find turning to their parents quite awkward, and they’re detecting discomfort from the adults in their life so they are seeking resources outside of homes and schools,” she said.
