Fremantle Council has backflipped and removed a 140-year-old tree from the significant tree register.

The community successfully protested earlier this year to get the Morton Bay Fig, located on private property, added to the register.

Pippa Hurst from Design Freo explained to 6PR Morning host Sean Cowan how they were blindsided by the council’s reversal of that decision.

‘This is a tree that is of such huge significance to our community,’ she said.
