With a growing number of businesses refusing cash, the Federal Government has decided to intervene and mandate the acceptance of this legal tender.

Patricia Sparrow from the Council on the Ageing explains to 6PR Breakfast hosts Karl and Mark why it is important to protect the use of cash for essential goods and services.

“At the moment, if you go into a shop that says we don’t take cash, then you’re in trouble,” she said.
