The federal government invests $100 million to supercharge Australia’s regional renewable energy future, including stage two of the Collie Battery.

Josh Wilson from Climate Change and Energy explains to 6PR’s Chrissy Morrissy how this investment will help to stabilise WA’s energy grid.

“It’s actually a pretty common misunderstanding; people think that unreliability is produced by renewables. To be honest, unreliability in Australia at the moment is chiefly because of ageing coal-fired power plants,” he said.

However, Chrissy questions the lifespan of these batteries and the environmental impact of their disposal.
