Firearm owners shocked by new gun law regulations
The state government has implemented new firearm regulations over the weekend, following the most significant overhaul of gun laws in the state’s history.
Paul Fitzgerald, President of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia WA, explains to 6PR’s Chrissy Morrissy how gun owners feel blindsided.
“The WA government has seen fit to drop a bombshell on thousands of law-abiding West Australians with these new regulations,” he said.

Chrissy continued the conversation with Merome Beard, Member for North West Central, who believes this legislation hasn’t been given enough consultation.
“There’s significant overreach; I mean, there are so many pieces of legislation that in my short time have been absolutely rammed through,” she said.
