Analysing Meta’s decision to stop fact-checking
Mark Zuckerberg has announced that he will be ending fact-checking programmes on his platforms to ‘restore free expression’, claiming that the programmes caused ‘too much censorship’.
Alex Jenkins from Curtin University spoke to 6PR Breakfast hosts Mick and Mark about the issue and the changes Meta is implementing.
‘The idea of crowdsourcing the truth is interesting and probably predates the internet in many ways. History is written by the winners, right?’ he said.
