Temperatures are spiking close to forty degrees Celsius again in WA, signalling a high-threat period for fires. Ninety-three per cent of WA is bushfire-prone and has historically seen around five thousand bushfires during this period.

Perth Today host Simon Beaumont asked Craig Waters, DFES Deputy Commissioner, if WA is prepared for the fire risk. Craig discussed the new technology DFES is implementing to help protect the community.

“Eighty-five thousand people are using the app since it’ was launched so that is really good, I think some of the new features obviously give warning notifications for bushfires, cyclones, floods and storms,” he said.
