Cases of a highly infectious stomach bug, ‘Cryptosporidiosis’ have grown threefold in just 12 months.

The disease has been linked to public swimming pools and petting zoos, among other things.

Beatty Park Pool Manager Jeff Fondacaro told 6PR’s Perth Today presenter Simon Beaumont, “All the public pools in Perth work closely with the health department and the health department has a very clear picture of the hot zones of Cryptosporidiosis.’

‘They know what pools are in those areas, and so they keep a close eye on outbreaks.”

“You’d have to be pretty unlucky to pick it up in a well-maintained pool,” he continued.
