A Perth driver has had an unexpected encounter after a kookaburra flew into his moving vehicle.

Adrian Wilson, a Cottesloe resident, explained to Perth Today host Simon Beaumont how, with his quick reflexes, he caught the bird – and then discovered a second critter had decided to hitch a ride.

“I did notice an object in my peripheral vision with its wings spread, and like one second later it hit me in the chest,” he said.
