North Melbourne become the first Melbourne-based team to get a win at Optus Stadium after their 28-point victory of the Fremantle Dockers on Sunday.

The AFL’s leading goal kicker, Ben Brown, was shut down by Joel Hamling for most of the game but managed to sneak out for two majors while Jarrad Waite kicked three for the Kangaroos leading his team to the 12.14 (86) to 8.10 (58) win.

Fremantle stayed in the game and were only three points behind into the fourth quarter but North Melbourne charged ahead with 200-gamer Todd Goldstein managing a goal to seal the deal.
Aaron Sandilands was a late casualty, being helped off the ground after a head clash with Sam Durdin.

North Melbourne’s Ben Jacobs had an impressive game with 29 disposals, nine tackles and a goal and spoke with 6PR after their win.
“Every week the game I play and the way the coaches want me to play evolves, even quarter to quarter,” Jacobs said.

“We need to chop and change, we can’t just be too predicable for the opposition,” Michael Walters says about the Fremantle forward line.

“He’s in good care, they tapped him out so obviously it was a concussion. He’s a brave player for us,” Ross Lyon says about Aaron Sandilands.

“I said it post game it’s always a concern when the opposition kick of the game to level the score,” North Melbourne coach Brad Scott said after the game.

We caught up with Fremantle assistant coach David Hale who played alongside 200 gamer Todd Goldstein and he said he’s looking forward to seeing Goldstein go up against Aaron Sandilands.
